Pitch Duel

One against one on a small pitch, with a keeper in each goal. Dribble past your opponent, time your shot or header and beat the keeper. A referee whistles every foul, shows the cards and points to the spot. Level at full time? It goes to penalties.

New to it? Starter mode keeps it to run, jump and shoot. The shot aims itself at the goal and a hint under your player says what to do next.

Expert mode adds the wind-up shot (a short wind-up keeps it low, too long sends it over the bar), volleys, slide tackles, yellow and red cards, eight kits, 2, 3 or 5 minute matches and a tongue-in-cheek national superpower for each side.

In the shoot-out the view switches to behind the taker. Aim left, right or down the middle, go high or low, and guess which way to dive when you're in goal.

Play against the bot on Easy, Medium or Hard, or play a friend on the same device. Harder bots run faster, shoot for the corners, read your penalties and have a better keeper.

Against the bot, the arrows, Space (slide) and F (superpower) also work. On a phone or tablet each player gets on-screen buttons on their side.

• Graphics and sound are made from scratch in code. No ads, no tracking, free and open source (MIT).
